Non violent resistance (NVR)

Parenting is hard right? There are lots of books which tell us what to do, but sometimes we get in a pickle and find ourselves stuck.

With an NVR parenting approach we start our journey thinking about things you appreciate about your child or young person; I recognise at times this can be hard to do when things have got really tough in your family.  But, we can work together to explore this.

We think about how you can become the parent you want to be – using things you are doing well already and how to bring more of this and areas you feel stuck.I can support you to hold hope for the future, and how things can be different for you. I am absolutely there walking along this path next to you, and we will arrive at your chosen destination.

NVR focuses very much on the relationship being the most important thing, if you nurture this, and respond to your child in a non-escalatory way, it can help bring about relational safety and role modelling holding of emotions.

NVR doesn’t mean we don’t respond to harmful/anxious behaviours your child or young person may be exhibiting but, it supports you in addressing these behaviours.  However, we do drop the battle for control. You’ll feel supported and have something to hold onto throughout your parenting journey.
